Present day bookkeeping(at least the one that most of us seem to practice) seems to have only debit, deficiency and gaps.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is our modern curse: A century of\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>conspicuous consumption<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0has trained us to be dutiful citizens of the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>Republic of Not Enough<\/em><\/strong><\/span>, swearing allegiance to the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>marketable myth of scarcity<\/em><\/strong><\/span>, hoarding toilet paper for the apocalypse. Along the way, we have <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>unlearned<\/em><\/span> how to live wide-eyed with wonder at what\u00a0<strong>Hermann Hesse<\/strong>\u00a0called\u00a0\u201c<strong>the little joys<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0\u2014 those unpurchasable, unstorable emblems of aliveness that abound the moment we look up from our\u00a0<strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">ledger of lack<\/span>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What are you chasing? Or what is chasing you? Counting on life or making life count?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<strong><em>democracy of inadequacy<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0is NOT <em>of the people, by the people, for the people<\/em>. We all need a different domicile.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-876\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/The-Pursuit-of-Happiness.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"893\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s time\u00a0to script your own countercultural invitation to rediscover life\u2019s true priorities amid our confused maelstrom of materialism and compulsive productivity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Enough is so vast a sweetness, I suppose it never occurs, only pathetic counterfeits<\/em><\/span>,\u201d\u00a0<strong>Emily Dickinson<\/strong>\u00a0lamented in\u00a0a love letter. In his\u00a0splendid short poem about the secret of happiness,\u00a0<strong>Kurt Vonnegut<\/strong>\u00a0exposed the\u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">taproot of our modern suffering as the gnawing sense that what we have is not enough, that what we are is not enough<\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>You, you-er, you-est<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>is the perennial journey you will embark on and the ticket for that ride will be your investment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>civilisational trance<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>unabashed quest for more<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0needs a wake up call and the time is\u00a0<strong>now<\/strong>.
