{"id":777,"date":"2023-07-02T05:49:45","date_gmt":"2023-07-02T01:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/?p=777"},"modified":"2023-07-02T05:49:45","modified_gmt":"2023-07-02T01:49:45","slug":"the-gigolo-trap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/2023\/07\/02\/the-gigolo-trap\/","title":{"rendered":"The GIGOlo trap!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>GIGO<\/strong><\/em><\/span><strong><em>lo<\/em><\/strong> trap!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>Garbage In, Garbage Out<\/b><\/span><\/i><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, or\u00a0<\/span><b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">GIGO<\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, refers to the idea that\u00a0<\/span>in any system, the quality of output is determined by the quality of the input.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The term originated in the computer science and information technology fields but now has made headway into other industries as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it has trespassed its way into our daily zeitgeist.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A lazy way of arriving at the conclusion that faulty input leads to faulty results. Lazy (and unfair) because the entire onus is placed on the user or the doer or the environment. And the creator happily puts up his hands, saying, &#8216;\u00a0<i><b>not my fault<\/b><\/i> &#8216;. This applies to convoluted tax returns forms, printers, websites with questionable UI, the type of gasoline or tyres used in cars and many such everyday situations. It is far too lopsided and the diktat needs a new narrative that is more inclusive and creates a level playing field.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My mother was my best teacher. Getting hold of an absolutely written off country boy and transforming me into someone who can get by reasonably well enough in this world. Don&#8217;t you think that should be the benchmark all around? Rather than the cocooned excesses spun off my corporations and individuals who are happy to maintain the stalemate and shirk responsibility. And have the audacity\u00a0to pass the buck.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just because you are (considered ) trash, it does not mean that you cannot do great things. Remember, it&#8217;s called a\u00a0<b><i><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">G<\/span><\/i><\/b><i><b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">arbage Can<\/span><\/b><\/i>, NOT\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b><i>Garbage Canno<\/i><\/b><i>t<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are some &#8216;\u00a0<i><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>waste<\/b><\/span><\/i><b>d interests<\/b> &#8216; at work and we need to blow the lid off of that.
