{"id":730,"date":"2023-04-02T09:36:09","date_gmt":"2023-04-02T05:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/?p=730"},"modified":"2024-04-07T11:25:37","modified_gmt":"2024-04-07T07:25:37","slug":"how-about-some-bragging-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/2023\/04\/02\/how-about-some-bragging-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"How about some B(r)agging rights?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On a recent trip overseas, I had some <em>weighting<\/em> to do upon landing at the airport, so decided( after the usual skirmish with sweat, suede and swear words) to be an <em><strong>inno scent<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 bystander next to the baggage carousel as it aimlessly(and somewhat harmlessly) went around in circles. <strong><em>Everything, Everywhere<\/em> <\/strong>is about the <strong><em>circular economy<\/em><\/strong>( not the<strong><em> Oscars, <\/em><\/strong>by the way!<em>)<\/em>. So, here&#8217;s the <em>360 degree<\/em> on it, motivated by well, you guessed it- <em>bags of time<\/em>. <i><b><\/b><\/i><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u2013\u00a0The absolute nonchalance with each and every piece of baggage gets treated once it finds its (p)<strong><em>ride of place<\/em> <\/strong>on the carousel has convinced me that the carousel is the only place in the world that is completely agnostic to brands.\u00a0<strong>Tumi, Louis Vuitton, Delsey, Tommy Hilfiger, Samsonite, American Tourister, VIP, BOSS, Open Story, Away, Echolac, Safari<\/strong>\u2026all came (and went) alike. The message was loud and clear.\u00a0<strong><i>Rest in Piece<\/i><\/strong>\u2026till such time your owner( or an imposter) gets a handle on you! Oh there goes my <strong>Safari<\/strong> and I am not able to get hold of it. So is it <strong>TATA <\/strong>to the<strong> Safari<\/strong>? That you can take the rough with the smooth?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-Nowhere will you see a better study in contrast. The bags taking its own sweet time to get to where it ought to, unabashedly relaxed, clinically unrepentant, approaching arrogance ( I am the\u00a0<strong>BOSS<\/strong>\u00a0here, you better give me the\u00a0<strong>VIP<\/strong>\u00a0treatment), do not intrude on my\u00a0<em>hammock<\/em> <em>style existence<\/em>. On the other side, the owners: anxious, impatient, irritated, worried, <strong><strong><em>chaos personified.<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8211; The bags I tell you love drama (and some gymnastics as well). Every now and then they bring you to the edge as they salsa, spin and swirl but manage to stay on top of the carousel. That in the process they knock off a few socks from ankles( sorry, that&#8217;s the <strong><em>Malayalee<\/em><\/strong> in me) and uncles is a different story. Really edge of the seat stuff!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8211; The area surrounding the baggage belt is actually a <strong><em>medical practitioner\u2019s<\/em><\/strong> delight. The ideal place to diagnose the following including but not restricted to :\u00a0<strong><em>Slip disc, Parkinsons, Blood Pressure, Hypertension, Colour blindness<\/em>\u2026<\/strong>is it <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">blue<\/span> or <span style=\"color: #008000;\">green<\/span>? (And the real owner sees <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">red<\/span> in the bargain). If you don\u2019t mind, could you please help me offload the bag(read cargo) \u2013 I travelled light this time-it\u2019s just 87 kgs( any more and she would have had to hire a cargo plane).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Do you think the carousel is an ideal candidate for <em>acute nausea<\/em>? Imagine going around in circles, hour after hour, day after day- where does it begin? And where does it end? Flight or fight? Methinks its happy to be a <strong><em>spin doctor!<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8211; So the next time you travel, carry <strong>XS<\/strong> baggage. <strong>X<\/strong>tra <strong>S<\/strong>mall. Give the carousel a break. Unless of course you want to see some <strong>Delsey<\/strong>, all at sea! <strong>BOSS<\/strong> it makes no sense <strong>TUMI<\/strong>! Weight- I will ask <strong>TOMMY<\/strong>&#8211; maybe <strong>HILFIGER<\/strong> it out! Or should it be <strong>Facebook<\/strong>? They have pretty good offices with the carousel, I dare say.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>T<\/em><\/span><em style=\"color: #ff0000;\">he journey is inevitable.
