\u201cYou yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It shouldn’t be such a difficult thing to do, but, yet it is.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How to love yourself.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One of the best guides to how to be self-loving<\/strong><\/em> is to give ourselves the love<\/strong><\/em> we are often dreaming about receiving from others.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There will be times when you will be feeling lousy about your state of mind, your over-fifty body, your hair, you see yourself as too fat, too this or too that..it’s a rabbit hole that we all go into.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yet you fantasise about finding someone who would give you the gift of being loved as you are. Contrarian, isn’t it?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is silly, isn’t it, that you would dream<\/em><\/strong> of someone else offering to you the same acceptance<\/strong><\/em> and affirmation<\/em><\/strong> that you are voluntarily withholding from yourself.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The word ‘ love<\/strong> <\/em>‘ is most often defined as a noun. But, it is worth altering the trajectory. We would all love better if the word love is used as a verb<\/span>, rather than a noun.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The ask here is: could we proactively offer a new ethic<\/em><\/strong> for a society bereft with lovelessness<\/em><\/strong>– not the lack of romance, but the lack of care, compassion, unity ?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

People are divided by our society’s failure<\/em><\/strong> to provide a model<\/em><\/strong> for learning to love.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Should we be razing the cultural paradigm<\/em><\/strong> for a new path to love<\/strong><\/em> that is sacred, redemptive<\/strong><\/em>, and healing<\/strong><\/em> for individuals<\/strong><\/em> and society<\/strong><\/em>?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Definitely so. Count me in!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As Katrina Mayer<\/strong> puts it, ” Loving yourself isn’t vanity, it is sanity<\/em><\/strong> “.<\/p>\n
