We believe if we let go\u2014even a little\u2014the thread will snap. So we hold tight. We suffocate the very thing we love. But Harvey\u2019s line is a gentle, devastating nudge: What if you left a part of yourself behind <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>on purpose<\/em><\/span>? Not out of carelessness, but <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>out of trust<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Think about it. A scarf is intimate. It carries your warmth, your scent, your comfort. To &#8220;forget&#8221; it in another&#8217;s life is to say, I trust you to keep my warmth safe. To &#8220;come back later&#8221; is to say, I believe this connection can survive the distance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>The Reason We Never Say Goodbye Properly<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some people you meet, and something happens.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Not romance. Not friendship. Something smaller \u2014 and stranger. A five-minute conversation that refuses to end when the conversation ends.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Mikko Harvey<\/em><\/span> knew this. So he wrote a line disguised as nothing \u2014 a scarf, forgotten on purpose \u2014 and hid inside it the oldest human wish:\u00a0<em>let there be a reason to come back.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We do this constantly. We just don&#8217;t call it poetry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The book we lend and never chase down. The playlist we send &#8220;for later.&#8221; The &#8220;let&#8217;s continue this sometime&#8221; we half-mean and half-hope for. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>We are all scattering scarves \u2014 small, deliberate forgettings \u2014 across the lives of people we aren&#8217;t ready to lose.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Because endings are unbearable. But\u00a0<em>unfinished<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>unfinished is alive<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Here&#8217;s the provocation<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What if you stopped trying to make every goodbye complete?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What if, instead, you left something behind on purpose \u2014 a question unanswered, a thought half-said, a door not quite shut? Not because you&#8217;re avoiding closure. Because you&#8217;re choosing continuation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The people who matter don&#8217;t need a perfect ending.
