It&#8217;s a figment of my imagination. So, no pretense meant!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s begin with a question: Name the most popular game in the world that no one admits they&#8217;re playing?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Clue<\/em><\/span>: It&#8217;s not chess. It&#8217;s not poker. It&#8217;s not even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/games\/wordle\/index.html\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Wordle<\/em><\/span><\/a> on a weekday morning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now it can be safely told: It&#8217;s <strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;<\/span><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You know <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/puzzles\/sudoku\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Sudoku<\/em><\/span><\/a>, right? <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The New York Times<\/em><\/span> acquired it given its huge popularity. Nine squares. Nine numbers. Every row, every column, every box must have all nine digits \u2014 no repeats, no gaps, no faking it. The grid either works or it doesn&#8217;t. Numbers don&#8217;t lie.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;<\/span><\/em><\/strong> is the opposite game.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A game where every box is filled incorrectly, but confidently.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to the world&#8217;s fastest-growing sport.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Pretending<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Sudoku<\/em><\/span> is a 9&#215;9 grid of logical bliss, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;<\/strong><\/em><\/span>\u00a0is a 1&#215;1 grid of your ego, filled with a number you made up.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">You Know One. You Might Be One<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Pseudo Kus<\/em><\/span> don\u2019t play games. They curate games. They don\u2019t solve problems\u2014they <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>reframe<\/em><\/span> them using words like \u201c<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>synergy<\/em><\/span>,\u201d \u201c<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>helicopter view<\/em><\/span>,\u201d and \u201c<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>circle back<\/em><\/span>.\u201d Then they post a photo of a coffee mug that says \u201c<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Hustle<\/em><\/span>\u201d while napping through the 3 PM stand-up.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>PSEUDO-KU&#x2122; Is Not Ignorance<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ignorance can be cured. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Pseudo Ku is performative competence<\/em><\/span>\u2014the exhausting theater of appearing logical, deep, and busy while adding zero value. You\u2019ve seen them in Zoom calls: \u201cGreat question, let me unpack that.\u201d Unpack what? Your empty suitcase?<\/p>\n<p>They use frameworks like trophies. They mistake motion for progress. They confuse having an opinion with having a clue. And worst of all\u2014they make the rest of us doubt our own slow, boring, honest struggle with Cell R5C7.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The Truth Sudoku Taught Us<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The empty cell is not your enemy. It\u2019s your teacher<\/em><\/span>. Fill it with guesswork, and you lose. Fill it with thought, and you grow. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Pseudo Kus<\/em><\/span> never grew. They just rebranded their confusion as <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>strategic ambiguity<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>The Rules Are Simple<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t have to know.<\/p>\n<p>You only have to look like you know.<\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t have to be.<\/p>\n<p>You only have to appear to be.<\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t have to build.<\/p>\n<p>You only have to post about building.<\/p>\n<p>And unlike Sudoku, there are no wrong answers.<\/p>\n<p>Only louder ones.<\/p>\n<p>Take personal life.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve become Michelin-star chefs because we posted a photo of avocado toast.<\/p>\n<p>Fitness experts because we bought shoes capable of running marathons.<\/p>\n<p>Spiritual gurus because we uploaded a sunset with the caption: &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Trust the universe<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The universe, meanwhile, is desperately trying to figure out what exactly it is being blamed for this week<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;: <\/strong><\/em><strong><em>THE PERSONAL EDITION<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ve met the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Pseudo Mindful Person<\/em><\/span>. Meditates for the gram. Posts sunrise photos with quotes about stillness. Loses their mind at the airport check-in queue like they&#8217;re auditioning for a regional theatre production of rage. What was that <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Shakespeare<\/em><\/span> quote: &#8221; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>All the world&#8217;s a rage..sorry stage<\/em><\/span>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ve met the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Pseudo Vulnerable Leader<\/em><\/span>. &#8220;I&#8217;m going to be raw with you today,&#8221; they say \u2014 and proceed to share a curated, pre-approved, PR-reviewed, totally safe emotion. Vulnerability as strategy. Authenticity as content calendar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ve met the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Pseudo Reader<\/em><\/span>. The one with the intellectual bookshelf behind them on every Zoom call. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Dostoevsky. Yuval Noah Harari<\/em><\/span>. A book on stoicism they bought at the airport and opened once, to the dedication page.The friend who reads book summaries on <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Blinkist<\/em><\/span> and quotes them at dinner like a prophet. \u201cActually, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Nassim Taleb<\/em><\/span> says\u2026\u201dNo, Karen. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Nassim Taleb<\/em><\/span> says stop pretending.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The grid looks full. But pull one number? The whole thing wobbles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;: <\/strong><\/em><strong><em>THE PROFESSIONAL EDITION<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The Pseudo Mentor<\/em><\/span>. Gives you forty-five minutes of their calendar and fifty years of their ego. Listens only long enough to interrupt with a better story about themselves.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The Pseudo Collaborator<\/span><\/em>. In every meeting: &#8220;I love this idea, let&#8217;s build on it together.&#8221; After every meeting: takes the idea, rebrands it, presents it upstairs. Solo. With a new slide deck.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The Pseudo Change Agent<\/em><\/span>. Speaks fluently in disruption, innovation, and transformation. Has disrupted nothing. Transformed nothing. But the TED talk was fire.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In real <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Sudoku<\/em><\/span>, the puzzle catches you. In <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;<\/strong><\/em><\/span>, there&#8217;s no grid. So no one ever checks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;: THE BRAND EDITION<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The Pseudo Purpose Brand<\/em><\/span>. Launches a campaign about saving the planet. Ships everything in six layers of non-recyclable plastic. Donates to one tree in a forest they&#8217;ve never visited. Wins an award for it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The Pseudo Community Brand<\/span><\/em>. &#8220;You&#8217;re family to us.&#8221; Family, apparently, that gets unsubscribed the moment their data loses value. Heartwarming.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The Pseudo Bold Brand<\/em><\/span>. Brave, rule-breaking, convention-smashing. On the outside. Inside: seventeen rounds of approval, two legal reviews, one consultant, and a color palette decided by a committee of people who&#8217;ve never spoken to an actual customer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The brand grid looks perfect. Until you buy the product.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The New Kid On The Block<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You guessed it. And there comes <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Artificial Intelligence<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The newest playground for <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Pseudo-Ku Olympians<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday they couldn&#8217;t attach a PDF.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today they&#8217;re AI visionaries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By next week they&#8217;ll be discussing machine consciousness over quinoa salad.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Every conference has one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A person who says &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>agentic ecosystems<\/em><\/span>&#8221; fourteen times in six minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nobody understands him.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yet everyone nods.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Because nobody wants to be the first person to ask:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What on earth are you talking about?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Which brings us to the greatest irony.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;<\/strong><\/em><\/span> exists because <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>authenticity has become terrifyingly rare<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are so busy curating our lives that we&#8217;ve forgotten to live them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So busy broadcasting intelligence that we&#8217;ve forgotten curiosity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So busy projecting expertise that we&#8217;ve forgotten learning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The truly impressive people I&#8217;ve met have a fascinating habit. They say:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Those three words have become rarer than affordable housing and sensible WhatsApp groups.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>Can We Get Real?<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Real confidence isn&#8217;t knowing everything.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>not needing to<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Real leadership isn&#8217;t pretending certainty.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>embracing discovery<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Real branding isn&#8217;t shouting louder.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>resonating deeper<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Real life isn&#8217;t performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>participation<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Maybe the antidote to Pseudo-Ku isn&#8217;t becoming smarter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>becoming more honest<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Imagine a world where people admitted confusion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brands admitted mistakes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Leaders admitted blind spots.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Experts admitted limitations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>LinkedIn admitted exaggeration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Okay, perhaps let&#8217;s not get carried away.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Until then, the great game continues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">PSEUDO-KU&#x2122;.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Where everyone fills every
