Of course these are beyond the standard &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>crony capitalism<\/em><\/span>&#8221; and &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>compassionate capitalism<\/em><\/span>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>State Capitalism<\/em><\/span> &#8211; Government plays a strong directing role while maintaining market economics (e.g., China, Singapore)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Stakeholder Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Corporations serve interests of all stakeholders (employees, community, environment) not just shareholders<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Surveillance Capitalism<\/em><\/span> &#8211; Economic system based on commodification of personal data for profit (coined by Shoshana Zuboff)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Conscious Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Business should operate ethically while pursuing profits (popularized by Whole Foods&#8217; John Mackey)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Platform Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Economic dominance of digital platforms that mediate between service providers and users<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Disaster Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Exploiting crisis situations to implement free-market policies (coined by Naomi Klein)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Casino Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Speculative financial practices with little connection to productive economy<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Welfare Capitalism<\/em><\/span> &#8211; Strong social safety nets coexisting with market economies (Nordic countries&#8217; models)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Inclusive Capitalism<\/em><\/span> &#8211; Attempting to address inequality while preserving market structures<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Turbo-capitalism<\/em><\/span> &#8211; Extremely accelerated, deregulated form of capitalism<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Laissez-faire Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Minimal government intervention in markets<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Green Capitalism<\/em><\/span> &#8211; Market-based approaches to environmental issues<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Digital Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Economic model centered on digital technologies and networks<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Venture Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Economy driven by high-risk investments in potential high-growth startups<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Monopoly Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Economy dominated by large monopolistic corporations<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Patrimonial Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; System where inherited wealth plays dominant role (highlighted by Thomas Piketty)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Philanthrocapitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Using business methods to solve social problems through charitable giving<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Zombie Capitalism <\/em><\/span>&#8211; Focused on failing businesses kept artificially alive through various supports<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am sure there are a few more that I certainly would have missed out on but what I didn&#8217;t want to miss out on is the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>New Kid On The Block: Equilibrium Capitalism.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A friend of mine gives me the hibby jibbies: watching her schedule her &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>spontaneous me-time<\/em><\/span>&#8216; between Zoom calls while simultaneously ordering groceries and listening to a mindfulness podcast felt like watching someone perform surgery while riding a unicycle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Our obsession with balance has become totally unbalanced<\/em><\/span>. The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>metrics madness<\/em><\/span> has taken over <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Planet Earth<\/em><\/span> from the looks of it- screen time, steps, gratitude moments, sleep, meditation minutes, calorie intake, hydration etc etc. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Life&#8217;s dashboard<\/em><\/span> has about 17 pie charts and soon we would need another pie-chart to measure our obsession with pie-charts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Balance: The fastest route to forgettable<\/em><\/span> -Nobody remembers the guy who played it safe. Nobody celebrates the brand that <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em data-start=\"715\" data-end=\"724\">kind of<\/em><\/span> took a risk. The world worships those who went all in, flipped the table, and broke the game.Would you rather be the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Steve Jobs<\/em><\/span> who obsessed over fonts, fired his own team, and came back from the dead to make <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Apple<\/em> <\/span>a trillion-dollar monster\u2026 or the \u201cbalanced\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>CEO<\/em><\/span> of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Nokia<\/em><\/span>? (Wait, what <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em data-start=\"1029\" data-end=\"1034\">was<\/em><\/span> his name again?).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is not a lie! <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The best stuff in life is 100% unbalanced<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Great food<\/em><\/span>? It\u2019s 90% fat, salt, and sin. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Great art<\/em><\/span>? Made by sleep-deprived maniacs ignoring the real world. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Great love<\/em><\/span>? Messy, intense, and absolutely <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em data-start=\"1266\" data-end=\"1271\">not<\/em><\/span> balanced. You think <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Elon Musk<\/em><\/span> is getting 8 hours of sleep, meditating, and sipping green tea? Nah, he\u2019s sleeping in a factory, launching rockets, and breaking <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Twitter<\/em><\/span> for fun.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Balance is for yoga. Boldness is for game-changers<\/em><\/span><strong data-start=\"2344\" data-end=\"2402\">. <\/strong>Listen, if you\u2019re a gymnast, by all means, balance away. But if you\u2019re trying to build something legendary\u2014a career, a business, a legacy\u2014moderation will bury you. The world isn\u2019t changed by the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>well-balanced<\/em><\/span>. It\u2019s shaped by the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em data-start=\"2639\" data-end=\"2666\">unapologetically obsessed<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Welcome to the social media balance illusion<\/em><\/span>&#8211; TIE: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The Instagram Effect<\/em><\/span>. The pressure to go public with our balance achievements. Because in the vast ocean of social media real estate, there is just <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>no room for vulnerability<\/em><\/span> and anything even remotely less than super perfect. &#8221; Sarah&#8217;s(fictional character) Instagram feed is is a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>masterclass in balance theater<\/em><\/span>\u2014morning yoga by the window, perfectly arranged <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>desk salad<\/em><\/span>, evening book with <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>artisanal tea<\/em><\/span>. What you don&#8217;t see is the 47 takes, the deadline panic, and the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>UberEats<\/em><\/span> wrapper hidden just out of frame.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Balance is overrated<\/em><\/span><strong>. <\/strong>Period<strong>. <\/strong>Here\u2019s the thing:Life isn\u2019t a tightrope; it\u2019s a rollercoaster. Some days you\u2019ll be on top of the world, and other days you\u2019ll be hanging upside down, wondering how you got there. And that\u2019s the beauty of it. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Richard Branson<\/em><\/span> once said, \u201cEntrepreneurs don\u2019t retire; they just find new ways to stay busy.\u201d Balance? Nah. Passion, purpose, and a little bit of chaos? Absolutely.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Guilt is the silent killer of balance<\/span><\/em>. You feel guilty for working too much, then guilty for not working enough. You feel guilty for taking time for yourself, then guilty for neglecting others.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em> Newsflash: guilt doesn\u2019t help<\/em><\/span>. It just makes you bad at everything. For eg you decide to hit the gym after work, but then your boss schedules a last-minute meeting. Your \u201cbalance\u201d just got tipped faster than a Jenga tower in an earthquake.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Balance is like a unicorn<\/span><\/em>\u2014everyone talks about it, but no one has actually seen it. We chase it, we Instagram it, we even pretend to have it. But let\u2019s be honest, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>balance is less of a state of being and more of a circus act where you\u2019re juggling flaming swords while riding a unicycle on a tightrope<\/em><\/span>.
