And <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>turmoil<\/em><\/span> isn&#8217;t progress.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And contrary to what we are hardwired to believe, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>burnout is NOT a badge of honour<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 We are willing(or unwilling) victims of the stories we have been told and the narrative that we have been storing in our heads. We all have stories we live by that aren\u2019t fixed truths. They\u2019re just old scripts we\u2019ve been following without realizing it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Getting off the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>hustle treadmill<\/em><\/span> isn&#8217;t easy. The\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>treadmill<\/em><\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>alienated insecurity\u00a0<\/em><\/span>that tells you that the moment you stop running for even an instant, you will be flung flat on your face. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Burnout<\/em><\/span>\u00a0is when you are all the time\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>overstimulated<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Our culture glorifies burnout as a measure of success and self worth<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>and that does not help in any way. The implicit message is that if we are not\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>perpetually exhausted<\/em><\/span>, we are\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>not doing enough<\/em><\/span>. As if the great things are reserved for those who bleed. For those who almost break.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Introspect and ask your self &#8216; how complicit or a willing ally are you in creating the conditions(and preserving that status quo) that are causing you stress and overwhelm&#8217; ? Is your GPS calibrated right? Does it have to guide you only towards <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Destination Struggle<\/em><\/span>?\u00a0 You don&#8217;t have to Google to find better Wayz!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Does your <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>To-Do<\/em><\/span> task list for the day occupy all of the entire A4 page?\u00a0 And To-Do as a term itself sounds so intimidating and an admonishment, clearly that you are not going to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The continuous talk of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>self-optimisation<\/em><\/span>. BS- <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>humans are not search engines.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1825\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Burnout-is-NOT-a-Badge-of-Honour.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For all those who flaunt their workaholic badges of honor and condescendingly accept the various neurotic flavors that comes with it, let\u2019s come to terms with the fact that we have been conditioned to think that work in the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>laissez faire zeitgeist<\/em><\/span>\u00a0is about hyper vigilance. It\u2019s about what happens to people when they are trapped in abusive circumstances and cannot escape. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Judith_Lewis_Herman\">Psychologist\u00a0<strong>Judith Herman<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0observed that \u201cthe ultimate effect of [psychological domination] is to convince the victim that the perpetrator is omnipotent, that resistance is futile, and that her life depends upon winning his indulgence through absolute compliance.\u201d We haven\u2019t been able to shrug off the mega legacy of the Industrial Age:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Compliance<\/em>.<\/span> Phew!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And since we are all birds of the same feather, we fall for the narrative that romanticizes struggle and that assumes only grueling work can produce worthy results.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The good thing is that you have a choice. Like nature, fly with the wind. Go with the flow, like water. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Take the path of least resistance<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Because, clearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/08\/rip-productivity-productivity-is-not-working\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Working is NOT Productivity.
