There is a famous saying by <b>Akio Morita<\/b>, the founder of <b>Sony<\/b> \u2013 \u201c The greatest assistance I had in building my company was the total failure of nerve on the parts of Western businessmen to move without research\u201d. <strong>Sony<\/strong> went on to become one of the most iconic brands achieving global dominance.<\/p>\n<p>Another legendary business <b>Richard Branson<\/b> has a similar attitude. He says at <b>Virgin<\/b> they continue to explore a lot of things. And if something excites them, they go ahead and try it. Understandably, a lot of them are failures. But about 20% of what they try out is a massive success. And obviously they had no clue before they ventured into doing it, which amongst the things was going to be the super successful one. So, they try them all. Because if they tried to avoid having the failures,they wouldn\u2019t have the successes.<\/p>\n<p>And probably the Big Daddy of them all <b>Steve Jobs<\/b>, had a similar view. He didn\u2019t believe in research. He said, \u2018 It\u2019s not the public\u2019s job to know what they are going to want. It\u2019s my job to know what they are going to want\u2019. This approach helped <b>Apple<\/b> become the apple of millions of consumer eyes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.sureshdinakaran.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Research.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-180\" alt=\"Research\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.sureshdinakaran.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Research.png\" width=\"450\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Research.png 450w, https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Research-300x214.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 85vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>It\u2019s not about the logical West or the superstitious East.<\/i><\/b> Business and brand success can be attributed to \u2018 <b><i>predatory thinking<\/i><\/b> \u2018 where myths are busted, convention is disrupted and logic is questioned&#8217;. In the process competition is outwitted. If you want to be a game changer, don\u2019t look elsewhere,begin by trying to be the game itself!
