We live with the belief that there is always tomorrow. But very soon our tomorrows will run out. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The power of now<\/em><\/span>( also a classic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ae\/Power-Now-Eckhart-Tolle\/dp\/1577314808\">book<\/a> by the same name written by <a href=\"https:\/\/eckharttolle.com\/\">Eckhart Tolle<\/a>) is under utilised as we move sub consciously from one distraction to another leaving little scope for <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>deep work<\/em><\/span> that matters.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1332\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/DONUT-called-Distraction.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"3090\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the best way to move from distraction to traction is to make a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/2024\/01\/23\/to-do-or-not-to-do\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>To-Do-List<\/em><\/span><\/a> and alongwith that make make a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/2024\/01\/23\/to-do-or-not-to-do\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>To-Not-Do List<\/em><\/span><\/a> and time blocking which helps in distilling the important from the unimportant. Offers you the time to do <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>deep work<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 Time blocking is a preferred route adopted by people like <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Bill Gates, Elon Musk<\/em><\/span> etc to do intense work of the highest importance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to change anything unless our motivation is strong enough. Before we can deal with our addictions to distraction, we need to uncover our motivations first.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re living in your inbox or reacting to an ever-expanding to-do list, it is time to recalibrate our motivations. Because <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>your real competition is your distraction.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As<a href=\"https:\/\/jamesclear.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em> James Clear<\/em><\/span><\/a> mentions so eloquently, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The more things you have, the more things you have to manage.<\/span> Simplicity isn&#8217;t merely cheaper, it&#8217;s easier<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The bank of time has finite deposits.
