He has become infamous for this advice, so much so that the adjective Machiavellian would later on describe a type of politics that is &#8220;marked by cunning, duplicity, or bad faith.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Hercules<\/span><\/em> (known in\u00a0Greek mythology\u00a0as Heracles or Herakles) is one of the best-known heroes in ancient mythology. His life was not easy\u2014he endured many trials and completed many daunting tasks\u2014but the reward for his suffering was a promise that he would live forever among the gods at Mount Olympus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This rant is neither about <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Machiavelli<\/em><\/span> nor about <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Hercules<\/em><\/span>. But, the culture that we live in expects us to be fiercely independent and function like the be all and end all. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Invincible or Winvincible<\/em><\/span>?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The need we have to knead is to need each other<\/em><\/span>. Be in a state of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>deep dependence<\/em><\/span>. But the diktat floating around in our society is completely the opposite.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Realisation of full potential is not through total individual independence but through transcending the self. It\u2019s about connecting with something greater through altruism, spirituality, and a collective purpose. To be <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>kind<\/em><\/span>, to have <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>hope<\/em><\/span> and to<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em> love<\/em><\/span>, ( note that four letter words- they can be a salve too) is a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>collective responsibility<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Mutual reliance<\/em><\/span> is nothing to be embarrassed about. Our growth, our fulfillment, indeed, our very potential, are interwoven with our connection to others.\u00a0 What should ideally be obsolete terms include <strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">self-made, self-help, self-centred<\/span>. <\/em><\/strong>An<strong><em> &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">ever evolving society&#8217; <\/span><\/em><\/strong>should not sideline our need for emotional connections.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1310\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sureshdinakaran.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Generousation-Next.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot live only for ourselves.
