Therefore, wanting keeps the ego alive much more than having. The ego wants to want more than it wants to have. And so the shallow satisfaction of having is always replaced by more wanting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is not a treatise in <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>no more<\/em><\/span>. Or <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>know more<\/em><\/span>. We certainly don&#8217;t need <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>more<\/em><\/span> of that stuff.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We, as people, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u200bsystematically overlook subtractive changes,\u00a0instead following \u200bour\u200b instincts to add.<\/em><\/span> There is nothing inherently wrong with adding. In the culture of the day, people like us, do things like this. But if it becomes a default path to improvement, that may be failing to consider a whole class of other opportunities\u200b. So, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>more is NOT equal to better<\/em><\/span>, more often than not.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How about practicing some essentialism? The disciplined practice of less but better. <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Separating the vital few from the trivial many<\/span><\/em>. Mind you, this is no easy task. To distill and rein in our incorrigibly elastic task list. How will we answer our ego? Or camouflage our insecurities? We find comfort in \u201c<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>keeping our options open<\/em><\/span>\u201d. But having too many options leaves us without direction. Having a few focused options gives our life a clear direction and makes decision-making easier. So, <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">less, NOT more, is the call of the hour<\/span><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To quote <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Holly Black<\/span><\/em> from <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>The Cruel Prince<\/em><\/span>, \u201c<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Desire is an odd thing. As soon as it\u2019s sated, it transmutes.
